This bowl was fun to make. I cut the piece of wood on a bandsaw and inserted a strip of walnut wood and glued the three pieces together. I then did the same with a piece of red veneer to make a red stripe. I then turned the blank on a lathe. The rim is textured to add contrast. The color variation in the wood comes from contrasting sapwood and heart wood. The bowl is approximately 5 inches high by 5 inches in diameter.
